focusedOS - Launched
My experience launching focusedOS (formerly focusOS) on Mac, iPhone, and iPad - transforming them for productivity & deep focus.
Hey everyone, Michael here again! 👋
It has already been a big week for me… and it’s only Monday night!
Today I launched focusOS! 🚀🚀
Check it out here: focusOS.app
If you’ve just begun following along (hello!), I’ve been building focusOS for the last couple of months to try and improve my productivity + reduce distractions with some ideas that I had in mind.
The general idea was a simple operating system for productivity that I can turn on with the flick of a switch and improve my focus - that I can also apply across all my devices.
Combining Focus & OS → focusOS felt like an appropriate way to coin this idea!
If you’re reading this on a Mac, iPhone, or iPad, be sure to give it a shot. 🙂
I am so relieved it’s now out the door, and I can share my immediate thoughts on how it all went.
What initially began as a simple sketch to adjust my Mac with one click…
Ended up becoming this!
What my launch day has looked like
The last 24 hours have been quite anxiety inducing. Whenever launching something new I’m hoping everything works perfect and that I can leave a great first impression.
After silently launching on the App Store just over a week early to stamp out issues, I began with DM’ing friends who didn’t know it was available.
After seeing their genuinely positive reception, I followed up with reaching out to journalists & people in the community who love and appreciate these kinds of productivity tools, and then finally publishing a big post on Twitter / X.
I was really grateful a few awesome people retweeted and shared my post to give it an extra boost, and even creating a promo code giveaway which was super kind and cool!
I decided to launch focusOS at 1am my time so people living in America would see it appear in their feed in their morning at 8am, and hopefully will carry on from there.
Shortly after, I made my very first sale which is always an amazing feeling.
Somebody loves my work! 🥳 🎉
In the hours since, I’ve received some great feedback & suggestions, especially this tweet about the idea of linking focusOS to the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro.
So I spent an hour connecting the dots to make this happen!
What’s next?
I’m currently experimenting with creating real-life device mockups which I plan to use on some In-App Events for the App Store page, and seeing how they turn out.
I think they add a great level of polish to the focusOS app page!
I’m also contemplating publishing focusOS on Product Hunt soon, and will continue sharing examples of how to use the app across Twitter / X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Mastodon.
If you’re;
on Twitter / X - feel free to follow focusOS
on TikTok - i’ll be sharing & experimenting with ideas
That’s it for now!
Wish me luck for the rest of the week - so much to do!
I hope you enjoyed following along. See you again soon! 🙂
Cheers, Michael
